Bonny was born on September 17, 1930 in Franklin Twp the daughter of Clarence and Goldie (Keplinger) Matter Sr. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Delano. On June 8, 1949 Bonny was united in marriage to Orville A. Pawelk at the Methodist Church in Delano.
Bonny was a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church of Hollywood and an active member of the Ladies Aid. She was a very hard worker and held various jobs throughout her life including babysitting while moms bowled at the Hollywood Sports Complex, getting up at 3 a.m. baking delicious donuts and cakes at Econo Grocery Store in Watertown, serving food samples at Mackenthun’s with a smile and cleaning houses making sure everything was always “Spick and Span”. The job most important to Bonny was being a wife and mother. She helped Orville on the farm by driving the tractor. She fed her growing family by raising and butchering chickens, canning and freezing produce from her enormous garden. While watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday nights, Bonny would line up the girls and roll their hair up in sponge curlers so her girls would look their best for Sunday morning church. Bonny was an excellent cook and was always cooking up a feast for her family and extra farm help. No one ever went away hungry! Despite all of the kids and living on a farm her house was spotless!
Bonny had a love for challenging 1000 piece puzzles and Shirley Temple movies. She enjoyed her flower gardens and being a twin to her sister, Betty. Bonny’s greatest pleasure came from being a part of her grandkids and great grandkids lives. She did her best to make it to all of their events. Bonny was an enthusiastic cheerleader and often helped the referees with their job! Bonny and Orville stuck together through thick and thin. Their love for each other grew stronger even as their bodies grew weaker. Orville was able to be by her side and walk Bonny home to Jesus on July 3rd.
